In Germany, new seasonal beers are brewed, sipped, and celebrated during their annual Maifests (spring celebrations). But as spring starts shining on us here in Pure Michigan, we honor the Bavarian brew-loving tradition in our own epic way: the Frankenmuth World Expo of Beer!
As Michigan's largest international beer sampling event, WEB brings nearly 300 brews from across the globe to your glass, rain or shine, all inside the Harvey Kern Pavilion in Heritage Park. And we're sharing our top 5 reasons you simply can't miss this epic tasting when you #gogreatlakesbay this May:
The obvious: beer. Not just any beer, though - perfectly crafted beer from around the globe (and some from our own backyard)! Admission of just $18 gets you 8 beer samples, plus access to the fast pass line; snag your ticket online today!
Nearly 300 expertly brewed beers from over 75 unique breweries - all under one roof, and all yours for the tasting! You'll even find brewers from our own backyard in attendance, including Frankenmuth Brewery, Tri-City Brewing Co., and Midland Brewing Co., and we're sure you'll love the libations from these local #MIBeer masters as much as we do!
The beer enthusiasts' energy at WEB is undeniable (and something you simply just have to feel for yourself). Chat with the brewmasters themselves (who each bring as many as half-a-dozen of their best brews to the festival) and share in the festival vibe with fellow craft beer lovers. You can even vote for your favorites using the BeerFestList app!
Take in TWO full days to enjoy all the hops and happenings at WEB - Friday, May 19 (5pm-10pm) and Saturday, May 20 (3pm-10pm). Book your stay in Frankenmuth (or at any of our nearby Great Lakes Bay hotels) so you can recharge between festival days. Hint: for even more convenience, try one of these hotels on the FREE World Expo of Beer Shuttle Route!
Stretch out the WEB festivities well before (and after) your tasting tour begins! Follow Festiquette's first rule of festival-going by starting the day with a hearty breakfast. Kick off with a cup of joe at one of these Frankenmuth coffee houses, try crepes here (or beignets here!), or go big with bacon (a half pound of it, to be exact!) when you fuel up before the festival at Tony's I-75 Restaurant in nearby Birch Run. Look at it this way: if you opt for the half-pound helping of bacon, you can always burn the calories off by joining the 1Beer1K Fun Run; it'll get you into the WEB festivities a full hour before general admission!
