Sweet Pure Michigan summertime is meant to be savored to the last drop: 'til the sails roll up on our Appledore IV tall ship schooner, the last of the kayaks have been stacked on their racks for next season, and the final beads of freshwater from Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay have dried on our skin.
Squeeze every last ounce of Great Lakes Bay goodness out of your getaway, where the waters are cool and unsalted, and our our favorite festivals swing long into the last days of perfect Pure Michigan summer.
Where can you taste brews from all across the globe without ever waving goodbye to warm, waterfront days of Pure Michigan bliss? At Michigan's largest international beer tasting event: the World Expo of Beer! WEB returns to Frankenmuth this May for its 21st year, bringing 300 beers from all ends of the earth straight to your tasting glass, along with fun extras like the 1Beer1K Fun Run (which gets you into the festivities a full HOUR before general admission)!
But three times a year, our Midland County Fairgrounds are filled to the brim (and beyond!) with antiques and collectibles a vintage-lover's summer dreams are made of! Whisk yourself a world away this summer in Frankenmuth, where the 59th Annual Bavarian Festival returns, bringing more German brews, bratwursts, hand-rolled pretzels, and Bavarian delights than you can take in on a single day (which is why we recommend you stick around for the full weekend of festivities)! Get your fill of favorite German treats, watch an authentic parade complete with Bavarian Princesses, and dance in your dirndl to live Bavarian music, long into the night!
KCQ Country Music Fest (FREE!) - June 17, 2017
Had you at the word "free"? It only gets better from here! As if the main event (professional powerboat racing) weren't enough, this all-out summer celebration brings with it a pub crawl, live concerts, a car show and bike show, and even a kids' zone. Get ready to watch professionals power their tunnel race boats along the Saginaw River, while you lounge riverside and take in all the sights of summer at the 2017 Bay City Grand Prix.
Make amends for every year you've celebrated by launching a few sad fireworks in the backyard, and, instead, get to one of the largest fireworks displays in the entire Midwest this Independence Day - the Bay City Fireworks Festival! No matter which side of the Saginaw River you choose to watch the fireworks from, you'll be there to experience live performances, entertainment tents, a family carnival, and the feeling that Pure Michigan summer might just be neverending...
Nothing says summer in Pure Michigan quite like some finger-lickin' goodness on the barbecue and an ice cold brew in hand. Bring your wet wipes (and your appetite) because the 6th Annual Blues, Brews, & Barbecue in Birch Run is a 2-day Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned competition, backed by other fun summertime favorites, like brewed-in-Michigan beer tasting tents, live blues music, and even inflatable bounce houses for the kids!
A revolution is brewing in Bay City, and it's bigger (and better tasting!) than you can imagine. Breweries (and, new this year, wineries) from across Pure Michigan will bring their best this August as Bay City's Wenonah Park transforms into an all-out beer and wine wonderland for the 2nd annual Hop Riot Beer & Wine Festival! Pair that with live music and city-wide tap takeovers, and you've got a recipe the perfect sip of summer fun.
