Sure, we have plenty of familiar favorite places to eat.  But not on this list.  These are just a few of our favorite off-the-beaten path places that'll lead you on a tastebud trailblazing adventure to sheer foodie heaven.  They're places where owner and chef are often one in the same.  Where the menu always changes but the food never disappoints.  Most of all, they're places where the food can make you feel.  Because it's cooked with passion, and often made from the ingredients grown right in our own backyard.

Heather's Restaurant Bay City

Vegan lasagna with spinach and basil tofu ricotta and almond parmesan.  Linguine with fresh cherry stone clams.  Polenta hearts with roasted red pepper coulis. Vegan lavender lemonade cupcakes.  These are the things Heather's dreams are made of.  And that's exactly what you'll experience at Heather's Restaurant - a unique collaboration of 5 different chefs as unique as their individual tastes.  One chef likes to cook vegan Indian cuisine.  One's a flexitarian who eats fish, but no cheese or red meat.  And one... claims to just eat everything!  So find it as no surprise that this charming, shabby chic restaurant boasts everything from countless vegan and vegetarian options... to some of the locals' favorite ribs in town.  Even more exciting is the fact that the entire Heather's menu changes every single weekend, with each of the chefs contributing a new dish to that week's presentation.  With a little whimsy and a band of fantastic chefs, Heather's has proven itself as a true foodie hotspot.  So pull up a restored vintage chair and tuck in to a piping hot plate of Heather's Un-Chicken Mac & Cheese... or whatever else sparks your curiosity.

Table

Experience the true elements of fine cuisine at Table, located inside Midland's H hotel.  This intimate, upscale stop is more than a restaurant - it's an experience.  Nibble on foie gras brulee with toast points and fresh berries while you share a bottle of wine with your closest friends.  Then, try beautifully seared lamb chops with rosemary garlic confit, or soft, poached lobster with a ginger, lime, and scallion broth.  No matter which elements you choose for your Table experience, Chef De Cuisine Peter Maiers will bring them all together in perfect harmony.

Fusion 1 Café

As a former chef and pastry chef at some of Detroit's finest hotel properties, Chef Craig Fiebke knows a few things about delicious food.  Better yet, he's ready and waiting at his newest labor of love, Bay City's Fusion 1 Café, to hand roll intricate sushi before your eyes.  But Fusion 1 Café's foodie experience doesn't stop with their extensive sushi bar.  It carries on to favorites like Rainbow Maki Chicken Teryaki, Seared Ahi Tuna, and Japanese BBQ Beef.
