X-Country Skiing

Cross-country skiing is always an incredible adventure, but when you take to the well-groomed winter trails found only here in the Great Lakes Bay, snow-dusted scenes and tunnels of trees dripping in ice crystals become the living backdrop to your perfect #puremichigansnowday!

Set out to explore nearly 100 miles of full-on, frost-covered beauty along our Great Lakes Bay Regional Trail system, rent your skis on-site for the 11k stretch set inside Midland's City Forest, make your mark on over 2,000 acres of frozen wetland woods inside Bay City State Recreation Area (and the 17.5 miles of Bay County Riverwalk/Railtrail that stretch beyond), or take to 1,200 acres and more than nineteen miles of scenic trails all yours to explore among the diverse ecosystems of Midland's Chippewa Nature Center.

Need to snag a pair of skis (and some winter-worthy gear to go with)? Head to The Stable Outdoor Outfitters in Old Saginaw City, where you'll find ski & snowshoe rentals at affordable daily and weekend rates!
