Fulbright Scholar: Experiences in Brno, Czech Republic
Local Delta College Biology/Environmental Science professor and Fulbright Scholar Jacob VanHouten will discuss his Fulbright experiences in the Czech Republic (City of Brno) at the prestigious Masaryk University (MUNI), School of Science/Biology, where he taught stream ecology and science writing for non-English speakers. Learn, laugh and experience the people, traditions and places in the former “Czechoslovakia,” now Czech Republic, which suffered under the former Soviet Union (USSR). Professor VanHouten also conducted water quality/stream ecology research with MUNI colleagues and advised PhD candidate students from various countries. Hear about living, teaching and conducting research during the COVID pandemic.
Fulbright Professor Jacob VanHouten (Science and Math Division) was recently selected as a member of the prestigious Fulbright Specialist panel. This was awarded on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and World Learning, as recommended by the Peer Review Panel for placement on the Fulbright Specialist Roster for a tenure of three years. This was in addition to his Fulbright Scholarship.
