March 12th
Considering Matthew Shepard

Details

Even in our darkest moments, light can break through. As part of its landmark 90th season, Saginaw Choral Society presents Considering Matthew Shepard. Together we will experience this deeply emotional work reflecting on the life, death, and enduring legacy of Matthew Shepard; the young man whose tragic murder in 1998 became a national turning point in the conversation on hate crimes and LGBTQ+ rights.

Blending a multitude of musical styles, Craig Hella Johnson’s composition confronts hate not with anger, but with grace. It reminds us of the enduring nature of the human spirit and calls us to choose love again and again.

Join us for an unforgettable performance that honors the past, acknowledges the present, and uplifts the future. Experience music that stirs the soul and opens the heart. More than a concert, this is a journey of empathy, courage, and transformation.
