Get outside for Earth Day and help catalog species found at the Averill Preserve! Join Little Forks Conservancy at our Earth Day Bioblitz at the Averill Preserve on April 22nd from 4-7 PM! Volunteers can drop-in anytime to help document the wildlife that is found at this natural area along the Tittabawasee River.
What is a Bioblitz? It's communal effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible! Participants connect with their environments while collecting useful data for science and conservation.
What We'll Be Doing:
Attendees will independently walk the trails at the Averill Preserve to catalog different plant and animal species. No experience is necessary to participate. Using apps like iNaturalist and e-Bird, volunteers will track and verify wildlife sightings. Data collected during this event will help to inform future work at this preserve!
What to Bring:

Directions:
The Averill Preserve is located on Saginaw Road in Sanford, near the intersection of E Wackerly Road and N Hope Road. The preserve's paved parking lot is located right off Saginaw Road, with a picnic pavilion at the trailhead. Additional parking will be available on E Wackerly Road, on the lefthand side of the road, designated by parking signs.
