In honor of the founding of Frankenmuth, the Historical Museum is allowing Free Admission to all visitors on Monday, August 18th. On this date in 1845, 15 colonists walked from Saginaw through the woods, thickets and swamps to finally settle in a place that reminded them of their homeland, and they called it Frankenmuth - meaning "Courage of the Franconians".
