Details

Found at the base of Ashman Street, Midland's "Tridge" is a three-legged pedestrian footbridge spanning The Forks, the confluence of the Tittabawassee and Chippewa Rivers. The waters flowing to this spot have carried the birchbark canoes of Native Americans, steam boats from Saginaw and billions of board-feet of white pine logs. Each leg of The Tridge spans 180 feet linking recreational areas with the downtown area. Whether it's a picnic on the river bank, a turn on the Trilogy Skateboard Park, a stroll on the Rail Trail, a free summer concert in Chippewassee Park, or shopping at the Farmers Market, the area surrounding The Tridge is a gathering spot for people of all ages to come together. In the summer, canoe rentals are available for a paddle up the Chippewa or Tittabawassee. Midland's RIVERDAYS Festival is held each August at The Tridge. The Tridge may very well be the only three-legged pedestrian bridge in the USA!
