"Hell's Half Mile Walking Tours" with Sam Fitzpatrick

In the late 1800s at the end of the lumbering season, as many as 5000 lumberjacks ("shanty boys") would collect their hard-earned pay and head for a six-block strip along Bay City's waterfront called "Hell's Half Mile." They would find a variety of gambling houses, theatres, saloons and brothels, as well as catacombs under the city streets.

Join Sam Fitzpatrick for a walking tour down Water Street and the surrounding area, as he shares the history of this notorious district and stories of persons who helped give Hell's Half Mile its fame.

Tours leave from DryDock Beer Garden (113 Center Avenue, Downtown Bay City) *Rain or Shine*. This is a seasonal outdoor drinking space with live music and walking tours.

*Note: The tours will include historical references containing graphic violence and adult content. Discretion is recommended for those taking part.
