Kristin Benghauser, president of Alcona County Historical Society, will do a presentation on Sturgeon Point Lighthouse and the no longer existing (but it was nearby) Sturgeon Point Life-Saving Station.

In 2026, the Alcona County Historical Society is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Sturgeon Point Life-Saving Station. Sturgeon Point Lighthouse was constructed and first lit in 1869.

Located along the Lake Huron shoreline and roughly halfway between East Tawas, Michigan and Alpena, Sturgeon Point Lighthouse is about 5 miles north of Harrisville.

The public is welcome!

Light refreshments will be available during an intermission.

Please use the Fifth Street entrance at the back of the church.

The Saginaw River Marine Historical Society (SRMHS) is an all volunteer organization interested in the maritime history of the Saginaw River and its connecting waters. We have seven monthly presentations a year and they start at 6:30 pm on the third Saturday of each month USUALLY at Trinity Episcopal Church, 815 N. Grant St. (and Center Ave.), Bay City, Michigan (unless there is a different location / day / time for a specific presentation). Customarily, there are no presentations in May, June, July, August, and December.
