A golf tournament.  A pub crawl.  Two live concerts.  A car show.  A brewery experience.  A 5k complete with a techno rave and glowsticks.  One-on-one lessons and certification for piloting a tunnel race boat.  Food vendors, a kid's zone, and a bike show.  Oh, and did we mention the main event?  Professional Powerboat Racing.

We're pretty confident you won't find anything like these events separately, and even more sure there's nowhere else you can experience them all together.  And this all out celebration of summer is coming in just a few short weeks when the annual Bay City River Roar returns to the Great Lakes Bay Region for its 27th year, June 27th - 29th.

While the list above begins to tap into some of the amazing ways to round out your River Roar experience, this annual summer extravaganza all centers around one thing - professional powerboat racing.  What's more, our Bay City River Roar course is known as the toughest course along the circuit, with a 1ΒΌ-mile course flanked by 700 ft. wide seawalls on both sides.

Rather be a part of the action than a spectator?  We've got you covered with a complete Bay City River Roar Driver Experience.  With this total package, you'll get your American Powerboat Association Capsule Certification, hands-on training provided by professional powerboat racers, and the chance to do 15 racecourse laps with personalized radio instruction.  You can even take it one step further by leasing your own driver school boat to experience an entire weekend full of racing!

River Roar Powerboat Racing

With so much action packed into a single weekend, you'll want to make the most of every minute.  Here are a few of our favorite tips for making your River Roar experience top-notch:

Choose A Side:

Normally, we like to spread the love and encourage you to explore as much of the region as possible.  But when planning your River Roar outing, you'll want to keep in mind which side of the Bay your favorite events are happening on (East or West).  For instance, if you're looking to sip the craft concoctions of some of our best local brewers or wheel in for the car show, you'll want to post up on the East Side of the River near Wenonah Park or the Delta College Planetarium.  If you're looking to grab your glowsticks and hit the street for a rave-style run, take the little ones to the Roarin' Kidz Zone, or check out the Bike Show, you'll want to mark your spot on the River's West Side.

Grab Your Tickets:

While you don't need a ticket to enjoy a great day at the powerboat races, you will want to plan ahead if you're a fan of one of this year's live entertainment headliners.  Friday, June 27th, you can help us rock the river to the sounds of Theory of a Deadman and Fuel, or come back Saturday, June 28th to catch theatrical rocker and Detroit-native, Alice Cooper.  Either way, be sure to snag your general admission or VIP concert tickets well in advance.

Stay and Play:

While it might sound like a great idea to drive in for a one-day adventure, we'd hate for you to miss out on any of the River Roar weekend festivities.  And after a day of fun and sun, you'll definitely be ready for a bite to eat and a good night's sleep (especially if you're joining us for the Pub Crawl or Brews By The Banks).  That's why we'd suggest you book your stay, and book early.  You can grab a spot at one of our nearby Bay City hotels (move fast, as those closest to the Bay will fill up quickly), or check out other great places to stay in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
